ROBERT J. TROTTA, SHIHAN
Robert Trotta began his Martial Arts training in 1972 under the tutelage of Korean master Young IL Kong. After three months of training, he left Mr. Kong and began to study with Lawrence L. Flournoy in the arts of Mun Moo Kwan Taekwo-Do and Shotokan Karate.
During his ten years with Flournoy, Sensei, he also studied Aikido in Philadelphia with Shuji Maruyama, Sensei.

In 1976 Trotta, Sensei's took over head instructor duties at the Phoenixville dojo when Flournoy, Sensei left to join the Pennsylvania State Police. In 1981 he opened his own martial arts school in Phoenixville teaching both Karate and Aikido. At the beginning of 1991 he turned over the operations of his school to his senior student in order to take on a full time position as an executive protection agent. In that capacity he trained with and instructed NYPD Tactical Units, corporate security personnel, Navy Seals, US Secret Service and other government agencies. In 1994 he was recruited by Henry Kissinger’s Protection Team. In 2002 he was hired by Blackwater Security and requested to train security agents in Iraq. He declined both offers in order to pursue other endeavors. |
Upon returning to Pennsylvania in 2005 he resumed his study with Flournoy, Sensei. In 2007 he was promoted to 7th dan by Louis Rabouin, American Self Defense Karate Association. In 2009 he was awarded the American Self Defense Karate Association’s “Professor of Martial Arts Instruction” and the title of Shihan.
Trotta, Sensei currently owns and operates a chapter of the Shuto Karate Club in Hatfield, PA. |
